Sunday. 5/31/09
Left Beijing for Guangzhou on Sunday around noon. Flight took a little under 3 hours. Not sure why, but the plane stopped at the far end of the runway to let us off onto the hot tarmac. Temp around 90 degrees. Got crammed onto a bus for a 5 minute ride to the terminal (seemed like a lot longer). Molly, our CHSFS rep, was there to greet us with a welcoming smile.
We’re staying at the Victory Hotel on Shamian Island. We have 2 rooms with a connecting door. Makes it handy to put Jenna to bed early. There are 2 other families from CHSFS staying at the Victory. One of the families traveled with us on our first adoption trip. They have a 5 yr. old daughter, Samantha. It’s great that the kids know each other and can play together.
Ate supper at Lucy’s. It’s a favorite among adoptive families. They have a large outdoor patio with big shade trees. We weren’t very adventurous ordering our food. Got ham and cheese sandwiches with french fries. We’re feeling punchy from jet lag and we haven’t gotten a good night’s sleep since we left home.
We’ll try to post photos soon. We promise :)
